He who doesn't move with time.

Everybody has moved on.

I too, moved on, albeit unconsciously.

What we are afraid of, is not being able to move on, but to have nothing to reclaim once we step forward with our backs turned. Life becomes a stale process of marching forward while leaving nothing behind.

But they left something behind even as they moved past seconds, while I was quick to incinerate and bury, leaving nothing but imperishable needles of thought always jabbing the back of my soul, slowly wasting away.

How is that different? All that is lost is a piece of history we will never be able to re-live or re-experience. Time robs us of our neighbours, while circumstances force separation. Who, in the world, has the time, and the will to go against everything, to remain part of your present, and still risk losing their way in the mist of tomorrow? That alone makes cherishing superfluous, aside for sentimental value or as masochistic practice.

How does one live as such? Not only has moving on became a stale process of treading on bodies broken under the sheer weight of your feet, it also brought about the inability to change for the better. It is evident the moment you realised the resemblance. You remembered his name and you tried to recall him, using faces from the past to match up with one that underwent so much more than you could ever imagine, transforming him into the stranger of the present.

He moved on. You moved on, too, but you haven't changed.

A minute of pleasure saves a man the pain of the next hour, and a minute of pain ensures that the next extends with double the duration. We were made to remember more bad things than good, but we go to far greater lengths to cremate the former than to preserve the latter. Was it meant to be a flaw in our hearts, or was it a step meant for us to overcome?

No matter what, night will fall, and we will be forced to make our decisions in the dark. There is no right or wrong, and every different approach is, in their own way, a form of welcoming tomorrow. Sometimes it may yield less than what we expect in the long run, but with time comes motion, and therefore we will keep moving on, no matter how slow it may be, towards our unique solutions.

ps. I hope it's not too chim.
